Easy, Bright Art {Using Packaging Tape!}

Several weeks ago I showed you my cheery Back Porch Makeover (yes, I'm still talking about that). And, last week I shared the so-simple tutorial for my Recycled, Hanging Glass Vases.

Which leads me to today. Today I'm sharing the easy-as-can-be tutorial for, what I shall henceforth refer to as, Packaging Tape Art.

Catchy, eh?

It all started when I spotted this fun, yellow packaging tape at Joann's Fabric. I snatched it up with nary a plan for it's use.

(All that junk by the checkout line? Yep, I'm their target audience.)

I paired the packaging tape with an old canvas I'd previously snatched up on another impulse buy.

(Hey, would you pass up a $0.99 canvas print that could so-very-easily be spray-painted white and revitalized with...packaging tape??)

(I didn't think so.)

To complete this art project:
1) buy impulsively
1) start with a blank canvas (either purchased that way or spray-painted that way)
2) create random stripes by placing decorative packaging tape at varying widths apart
3) use tiny stamps to write a short-but-sweet sentiment
4) display. step back. admire. move on.

My canvas says "come on get happy" because that's the first thing that popped in my head after I saw the delicious, yellow, paisley stripes.

I'm happy, indeed!

In case you haven't figured it all out, I also used the tape to add random lines on a white, melamine plate for my wall decor. And, the best part? I have a heckuva lot more tape to play with.

Whatever will I do with it next??

  20. How cute and inventive. I haven't seen that tape at our Jo-Ann's.
Uh, I'd like to know how come I read about all the bargains you bloggers find at Target, Jo-anns, etc. but when I go to look for this stuff our stores don't have it? Maybe I should stage a protest. Doggone it. I need better bargains. Maybe it's because I don't get to go to these places often enough and by the time I do all the bargains have been snagged by bloggers like yourselves? Watch out bargain hunting bloggers in Grand Junction, CO here I come, do or fight for them. We live out about 15 miles from G.J. and with gas what it is now our budget just doesn't leave any disposable income. (what disposable income?)
    What a concept, disposable income.
