I hope I'm not boring you with first birthday party details! I'll be honest, this is all I've worked on for the last several weeks and I'm not yet ready to file these memories away. But, I pinkie promise to give you the full details on Friday and then put this whole affair to bed.
Truly, I think this timeline idea can be adapted for a multitude of celebrations. Is your sweet punkin' turning 5? Collect your favorite 4-5 pictures from each year and make a 5 year timeline. Graduation? Anniversary? Sweet 16? Timeline it, baby!
See what I mean? This idea isn't just for first birthdays!
I'm going to give you a very quick tutorial, but I don't think you need a tute for this at all. It kind of speaks for itself. But, just in case, here goes...
I decided to hang this up in my kitchen along an old wooden door, turned chalkboard. I strung a length of twine and spaced out 5 white birdhouses I picked up at Michaels (do I even have to tell you they were dollar bin finds??).
I typed up the following timeline markers: Hello World, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and One Year. And, then I printed these out on coordinating paper. I decided to make these varying sized circles, so I used my handy Martha Stewart circle cutter to do that. I then made 5 slightly larger circles from another cute bird-themed paper and paired them with the milestone markers. These circles got taped to clothespins, which were hung above the birdhouses.
I ended up hanging 2 pictures from each month, evenly spaced down the twine. Easy and very sentimental! It was so fun to see how my sweet baby changed over the year.
Oh, I should add...the adorable clothespins were also Michaels dollar bin finds.
It's true. I'm addicted to things that cost a dollar.
If you've missed the last several days, you can catch the birthday mantel here and the "tweet" birdie invitations here! And, if you've been following along, thanks for hanging in there! I hope you're not too terribly bored with first birthday talk...
See you tomorrow for some fun link party highlights!

I'm new to your blog from the Blog Hop! Your little one is adorable, as are all your birthday accessories. You should never apologize or worry that you are boring someone because you are expressing your love for your child. We just celebrated my youngest granddaughter's first birthday, & I did an entire post...lol! I do a lot of posts about my grands. If people don't like it, they don't have to read it. I'm also really excited about your 52 Mantels, so I'll be checking back. I'm going to sign up for email. I'm also following via the LF & hope you'll follow back.

ReplyDeleteSimply adorable! You did an amazing job with this timeline, down to your paper choice with the little birdies. I did a clothespin photo line for my mom's 50th birthday, only I didn't put them in order. Instead everyone played name that decade. My mom was laughing with tears in her eyes (I'm assuming it was because of her questionable hairstyles). It's my first time here and I'm already in love with your blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration! Ashley @ fromdahliastodoxies.blogspot.com
