DIY Picture Holders {Pumpkin Style!}

Yesterday, when I revealed my Orange and Turquoise Fall Mantel, I promised you the tutorial for my DIY Picture Holders. And, today that's exactly what I'm sharing!

When my Pumpkin Picture Holders aren't on my Fall Mantel, they're part of a sweet vignette, complete with a pumpkin patch picture from last Fall (isn't my lil' punkin a cutie?!).

I began this project with 2 Dollar Tree pumpkins, spray painted in a pretty color of deep turquoise (or is that teal??).  These pumpkins feel like plastic on the outside, but they aren't hollow, they have a foam-like inside.

The third pumpkin, a foam faux-mercury glass, was purchased as-is at Michaels.

I also picked up a package of 18 gauge paper-wrapped floral wire. These were in the floral section of Michaels (in the aisle with the styrofoam, floral tape and various floral wires).

1) To make these cute picture holders, take one wire and cut it into two pieces of varying lengths 2) Take one wire and wrap the end around a pen (or other similarly shaped tool) 2 times 3) repeat with appropriate number of wire pieces 4) make a hole in the pumpkin with a toothpick and insert the bottom of one wire into the hole

I think these would be really cute place card holders! You could even insert more than one wire into a pumpkin for a fun look. The possibilities are endless, really!

    1. Thanks for your questions! The pumpkins are plastic on the outside with a foam-like interior. The holes were very simple to make. I used a toothpick!

      Thanks again!

  4. Emily

    I LOVE these. I thing it's great when people go beyond the red/brown/orange/yellow color schemes for fall and bring in contemporary colors. AMAZING job, as always, Emily!

  9. Loving your turqoise accessories. Yes that is turqoise, teal has more green in it.
    Your little cutie is so adorable, love that dark hair and smile. What a sweetie. Your candle stand with turq. pumpkin on it is very pretty with the pumpkins also.
    Hope the $tree in Grand Junction has some of those pumpkins when I get paid. Good holiday stuff goes really quickly. I don't get paid til a week from tomorrow, SS, or I'd be all over $tree. We have two of them in G.J.

  11. I happen to have orange and dove white dryer vent shapes drying as I type. If they make it to my mantel before Christmas I'm gonna pat myself on the back.

  13. I keep ending up back at your site. You have some great fall ideas. My weekly linky party--One Creative Weekend--has gone spooky this week in honor of my thirteenth party. If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll visit "One Creative Weekend" on OneCreativeMommy.com (open every Fri-Wed) and link up this idea and anything else you’d like to share. (You can include non-Halloween posts as well, but feel free to link up as many Halloween-themed posts as you like.) There are two categories—one for Halloween and one for everything else.
