Yesterday I showed you my 49th mantel (so close to 52!) and promised a tutorial for my easy-peasy chalkboard and burlap banner. I love this banner because I'll be able to reuse it for many occasions.
To make this banner, I started with a set of adhesive chalkboard labels I purchased on BlueMing Deals. Have you heard of BlueMing deals? It's a deal-a-day website JUST for crafting supplies. I pretty much want to order every single day. When I saw these chalkboard labels, I snagged 18!
If you want to snag a set of chalkboard labels, you might try Etsy, Williams-Sonoma or Staples. Or, you can stalk BlueMing Deals, Groopdealz, Pick Your Plum and Very Jane. They've all been known to offer them up upon occasion!
(This is sounding like a sponsored post, but it's totally not! I promise! I just want everyone to enjoy some chalkboard label fun with me!) :)
Chalkboard and Burlap Banner
Supplies:
6 chalkboard labels (or more/less, depending on your desired size)
plain burlap scrap (I used a piece about 30x6"- ~1/3 yd cut)
4x6" cardstock
ruler
chalk
scissors
6 clothespins
rope/twine/jute/ribbon (to hang banner from)
1) gather supplies 2) take 4x6" cardstock and create pennant template by cutting a triangular notch from one end 3) use chalk or pencil to trace your pennant template onto your burlap 6 times. 4) cut out the 6 pennants from your burlap 5) place one chalkboard label on the center of each pennant
To assemble the banner, attach each pennant to your rope with one clothespin!
Write a message, hang it up and enjoy!
I chose to welcome Fall with my banner. THIS week. Who knows what I'll write on it next week?!
This project is of the quick and easy variety. You should definitely give it a try!
