It's just another mantel monday (oh-ooohh),
Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. The little miss was a little sick, so we did a little bit of nothing on Saturday. My hubby was out of town, so I may have cried real tears on the phone and said something along these line "I just need to get out of this houssssssse. I want to see an aduuuuult. Wah-wah-wah-boo-hoo".
But, luckily, my friends came to the rescue that night with after-bedtime dinner, cake pops and girl talk. And, I stopped crying. Mother's Day proved to be better with family time, lunch prepared by...not me and sunshine. Sunshine really does help, doesn't?
So, onto that mantel. Maybe it's a little blue to reflect my day on Saturday? I'm not sure. But, blue and white make me happy, so probably not. I get asked a lot how I start a new mantelscape. And, the answer is that I usually start with one inspiration piece, and build on that. This week that piece was the blue and white vase from West Elm that a friend gave me for my birthday last week (I really do have great friends, huh?).
I framed a selection of blue fabrics that I got with a gift card from Five Monkey Fabrics as part of my prize pack for winning American Crafter. I just love each one and can't wait find the perfect project for them! But, for this week, they look beautiful on my mantel.
I had to show you this last picture so you can appreciate how extremely narrow my mantel is. Seriously, is this the narrowest mantel you've ever seen? It sure provides a challenge when I try to layer items.
But, hey, no one said it'd be easy.
