Plate Wall Details

A few weeks ago, I shared my newly hung plate wall on Instagram...

Today, I thought I'd share it here, for all you non-Instagram people. (Are there any non-Instagrammers in the house??)

I don't really have a tutorial, but I did use Meegan's cool paperclip, plate-hanging trick, which you can read about here.

So cheap. So easy. And, yes, weeks later, they're still hanging. I'll let you know if the hot glue fails me and plates come crashing down. Eek! ;)

This plate wall hangs in our family room. And, yes, I've got plenty of space to "grow" my collection. And, yes, I love color. Sometimes I think I'd like to decorate in neutrals. And, then I see something turquoise. Or, yellow. Or, coral. And, I drop the neutral idea. Hey, I like what I like...what can I say?

Side note, that weird glow over my chair is the light from our skylight. In case it's totally bugging you. Like it's totally bugging me.

Details, details. Most of my plates are from HomeGoods or World Market. But, two are beautiful ceramics from our trip to Italy. I'm hoping to gather more plates from our travels, in the future.

So, that's it. Our new plate wall! Do you have a plate wall?! If so, leave the link in the comments so I can go ooh and ahh over it!

Happy Friday!

  3. Your wall is lovely and I like that you incorporated many colours and shapes as well. The floral prints look great with them as well - and yes I am a non-instagrammer!!

  8. I love this it looks so pretty with the different plates. Great job :)
I have been trying to create a wall of art and clocks for my dining room and have changed the layout about 30 times, I just cant seem to decide how I want it to look! I think its because putting a dozen hooks in the wall after Iv spent so long painting and getting it to ready I just dont want to stuff it up!
Any tips on how I can make a decision on the layout and stop changing my mind?!

  10. So cute! I'm trying to do one.... lol. I'm looking for vintage plates and just can't bring myself to pay so much for old plates! Since when did goodwill get so dang expensive? lol. I should have been buying them at garage sales. Maybe I should re think how many I want and just buy the ones at goodwill, hah!

  13. I LOVE this! I was thinking about hanging some plates the other day, using the paperclip/sodapop top method, then I got nervous and didn't do it! SO, I will give you a week to see if anything comes crashing down!!! LOL - you're the tester! Julia

  16. I found you through Pinterest (what else these days, eh?) and am so happy I did! I've found some great ideas through your blog. I adore the plate wall, and had been wondering for some time now how to hang plates without those wire spring contraptions. Thank you for this. And yup, I'm one of the few remaining dinosaurs without instagram. ;)
