No-Sew Christmas Pillow {From a Placemat!}

I love a good no-sew project don't you?! This no-sew Christmas throw pillow (from a placamat!) is simple, fun and inexpensive! The idea was actually a friend's idea. When she explained that the pillow was made from a $3.99 Target placemat, I was blown away! I immediately ran to my local Target and snatch up one of their cute NOEL placemats. Target always has a nice selection of pretty placemats!

No-Sew Christmas Placemat

1) gather your supplies: enough poly-fil to stuff your pillow, hot glue gun and one double-layer fabric placemat (it must be the kind that has two fabrics top-stitched together, like the ones they sell at Target) 2) use a seam-ripper to open a small area at the bottom of your pillow 3) fill the insides of the placemat with poly-fil 4) close the opening with a line of hot glue

I ended up using the hot glue, after being unsuccessful with heat-bond. How in the world does that stuff work?! I followed the instructions, but I couldn't get the fabric to bond. The hot glue worked great, though! Of course, you could also stitch the opening closed, but then it wouldn't a no-sew pillow, would it?! :)

I think the pillow turned out so cute! And, the colors are so fun and fresh. I just love the NOEL design!

I'll be sharing this project over at Grocery Shop For Free as part of a fun, weekly Christmas series called Making a Merry Christmas! Visit me there every Tuesday from now until Christmas.

  2. I immediately went to my Target first thing this morning to copy this! They were out of the cute Noel placemats. So sad, but I'm going to try it with some almost-as-cute placemats. :)

  3. This is such a great idea, and I love the NOEL print on the pillow. I have had a hard time with heat bond, too. It just doesn't work for me. Thanks for the tip about using a hot glue gun -- that is awesome!
