A Change of Plans

Happy Monday, friends! I know it's Mantel Monday and not only was I going to show you today's mantel, I was also planning to open the official Mantel Challenge poll (not sure what I'm referring to? Read all about it here). However, on Saturday morning my hubby and I (and the little miss, of course!) dropped everything and drove to Iowa to visit my hubby's grandpa. It seems that God might be calling him home soon. In the last 2 days, we've spent some precious moments with him and with members of my hubby's family. On Sunday, it struck me that my grandpa-in-law was surrounded by each and every one of his children and grandchildren and what a testament that was to the kind of life he's lived. When his time here on earth is finished, I know his legacy will live on. That's the true beauty of a life well-spent.

I'm not sure when we'll drive back to Texas and when I'll be able to scape that ol' mantel. So, let's just skip this week's mantel altogether and pick back up next week. Deal?

And, in the meantime, I'll search through my pictures and see if there's anything worth sharing that I haven't shared yet. Ya just never know. And, if you don't hear from me tomorrow it's because A) I lost my internet connect B) I didn't find anything cool to share with you or C) something came up. I hope you understand!

Until then, blessings from Iowa!

  9. I hope that my grandkids speak of me and the mister that way when our time comes. And since you are in Iowa, you can drive up here to Minnesota and scape my mantel if you get a hankering.

  18. Oh, I'm thinking of you! Somehow both my grandfather and my husband's grandfather managed to be surrounded be all the children and grandchildren right before they passed. I agree with you, it is a testament to a life, when the family is still as close and devoted as you obviously are. Praying for all of you.
